A litany against fear

I hope society is not judged by Cho Seung-Hui, the man who killed more than 30 people at Virginia Tech.

I can't begin to say that I understand the whys or hows that such events can happen. Many explanations will be offered, and in the end, after all those explanations, we won't know any more or less.

The nay sayers will offer many solutions to explain the senseless acts by Cho Seung-Hui. We will blame the police, the law, rock 'n roll, drugs, the Vietnam war and lack of responsibility.

Personal responsibility went out the window years ago.

Many people, including myself, will try to profess the Litany against Fear

Litany Against Fear

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

One more thing. The Litany Against Fear doesn't work. It's like being graded on life. If you have your faith in order, just do the best you can.
